Guadalahara Mexican

Bar Owner

Guadalahara Mexican is a family-owned and operated small business featuring home-cooked Mexican food (average entrée price is $9). With only 25 tables, the restaurant has a casual and quaint feel.

Many families dine at Guadalahara with their young children, and often asked owner Carlos Gonzales to move them to another table away from a smoker. Carlos, wanting to provide a healthy atmosphere for all of his guests, decided to make the restaurant smoke free and open a special section outside for smokers. He purchased an awning, tables and plants for the front of his restaurant and transformed it into the “smoking section.” With the beautiful trees and outdoor scenery, Carlos jokes with his smoking customers, “you have the best view of the restaurant.”

Since the change to smoke free three years ago, Carlos’ business has increased. “With a little good humor, everyone can feel at home in a smoke-free restaurant,” he says.
